Songfacts®:

  • Chemtrails are a name for the trails that are left behind by jets. Ordinarily, these are called Contrails, but according to some theorists, these trails contain chemicals the government doesn't want us to know about - these are referred to as Chemtrails.
  • Beck (from Entertainment Weekly May 30, 2008): "It began with the idea of a man and a woman watching the sun set, and they're looking at all these beautiful colors that are coming from the trails of jets - the idea that something so beautiful could come from something that's a by-product of something so industrial."
  • Joey Waronker played the drums on this epic track. Waronker has also contributed to five of Beck's previous albums as well as the Smashing Pumpkins' Adore and R.E.M.'s Up and Reveal sets.
  • This was the first song from the album to be heard, after it got put up on Beck's website and MySpace sites.
