• In April 2005, members of Belle and Sebastian visited Israel and the Palestinian territories with the UK charity War on Want. Inspired by the trip, the band subsequently recorded this song, which would later crop up as the B-side to 2006's "Funny Little Frog" single.
• B & S frontman Stuart Murdoch explained the song's unusual title to NME: "That was written in Jerusalem. We went to Palestine on a fact-finding mission. I was sitting with a rabbi and some young students and it was a really funky gathering and we were at The Eighth Station Of The Cross. We happened to be in a kebab shop, hence the song."
• The song was originally included on the 2005 War Child charity album, Help! A Day in the Life, released to raise money to fund the charity's efforts in war-torn countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina.
