Songfacts®:

  • Never performed the same way twice, "Rock This Bitch" is a song Ben Folds improvises at concerts at the urging of fans who yell out those magic words. It all started on March 2, 2002, when he played a solo show at the Vic Theatre in Chicago that was recorded for his Ben Folds Live album. Between songs, a guy in the front row yelled out, "Rock This Bitch!" Ben, taking him literally, made up a song about rocking this bitch off the top of his head to please the fan. The song made the album and started a tradition where fans would yell the phrase and Folds would improvise an original song. He's even done it when backed by an orchestra - in 2019 he spent 15 minutes working out an original song on stage with the North Carolina Symphony at a show in Cary, North Carolina.
  • On the album Naked Baby Photos, Ben Folds Five during a random jam session recorded the song "Weather Channel Music" and included a very random and highly entertaining version of "Rock this Bitch." >>
