Songfacts®:

  • As a songwriter and producer, Benny Blanco doesn't make many bad decisions with his collaborations, having worked with the likes of Ke$ha ("TiK ToK"), Katy Perry ("California Gurls," "Teenage Dream"), Rihanna ("Diamonds"), Maroon 5 ("Moves Like Jagger"), Ed Sheeran ("Castle on the Hill"), and Justin Bieber ("Love Yourself"). Here, he adds K-pop megastars BTS and West Coast rap legend Snoop Dogg to his resumé.
  • This song features vocal contributions from BTS' Jungkook, Jimin, V and Jin, plus Snoop. They recount an infatuation for a girl they enjoy being with whatever the consequences. Their undying love is so strong they want to be with her all the time, even if they have to make some "bad decisions" to do so.

Meanwhile, Snoop raps about how folks are telling him he's looking especially fly. That's because the girl is by his side.
  • Benny Blanco is a self-confessed BTS devotee and considers himself part of the group's ARMY fan network. In June 2022, BTS' label asked him to remix three of the K-Pop group's fan favorites – "Life Goes On," "Fake Love" and "Blood, Sweat & Tears" – into a new medley to promote their anthology album Proof. "Everyone knows I'm BTS' biggest fan," he said. "So I immediately started working on this remix."
  • Blanco teased the star-studded collaboration the following month and dropped "Bad Decisions" on August 5, 2022. It is the first BTS release since the band announced a temporary suspension of group activities to allow the members to pursue individual projects.
  • Blanco and Snoop Dogg co-wrote the summery synth-pop anthem with singer-songwriter Mike Posner and co-producers Blake Slatkin and Cashmere Cat.

This crew also provided the instrumentation, with Posner on guitar and Blanco, Slatkin and Cashmere Cat playing the keys.
  • In the Ben Sinclair-directed video, Blanco is BTS' biggest fan. He excitedly prepares for their concert that evening, baking them a cake and doing whatever it takes to get to the group's concert in time... only to find he's a day early.
