Play Video

Songfacts®:

  • This sunny pop jam is a track from the duo Best Coast's debut album Crazy For You. Actress Drew Barrymore directed the music video having linked up with the Best Coast pair as a result of meeting singer Beth Consentino after a L.A. show.
  • The tale of a forbidden romance was shot in the culvert of the Los Angeles River, the location of the famous drag race in Grease. Among the stars who make guest appearances are Kick Ass star Chloe Moretz and Teen Wolf's Tyler Posey who play the two star-crossed lovers, plus iCarly actress Miranda Cosgrove, Arrested Development's Alia Shawkat and comedian Donald Glover.
  • Barrymore told MTV News the video's storyline of two members of rival street gangs, falling in love and keeping their passion a secret mirrors the song: "I wanted to do a story that fit into that, where you can't really tell what era you're in… I wanted to make a mini-movie out of this extraordinary song that moves me," she said.
  • Though this was Barrymore's first turn in the director's chair for a pop video, she had had previous experience of directing. The actress helmed the 2009 movie Whip It, which also featured Ali Shawkat.
