Songfacts®:

  • "Goodness of God" is a song of praise to our good and faithful Lord. Jenn Johnson, one-half of worship duo Brian & Jenn Johnson, sings the song. Her husband Brian Johnson is the president and co-founder of Bethel Music.
  • Jenn Johnson explained to New Release Today that the song originated in 2018 during the process of adopting their fourth child, Ryder. Jenn explained to have a baby again when she and Brian had "been out of baby season for eight years," was "such a blessing."

One day, in the midst of the adoption process, Jenn found herself driving along a long country road singing to the Lord. Out of her impromptu worship session came a song about the "faithfulness" and "kindness of God," which she recorded on her phone. She said: "I wrote and sang most of 'Goodness of God' as an overflow of my heart at that moment."

Jenn later developed and completed the song with her husband, Ed Cash, Jason Ingram, and Ben Fielding.
  • "Goodness of God" is the third single to be released from Bethel Music's live album Victory.
  • On August 11, 2024, Carrie Underwood joined the worship team at Rolling Hills Community Church in Franklin, Tennessee, where she led the congregation in a heartfelt rendition of "Goodness of God." Her voice, filled with conviction and grace, uplifted those in attendance as she demonstrated that her faith is at the very core of who she is, both on and off the stage.

  • Jp from TexasTo Dc Christman from Kansas: you failed to note the comma that separated her husband (Brian) from Ed Cash as names in a series. She is married to Brian Johnson only! Unless reading carefully, it’s a bit understandable why you were confused. Having taught English for many years, perhaps I had the advantage of understanding the grammar!
  • Dc Christman from KansasSo is (was) Jenn married to Brian Johnson, as you said in the first graf, or was she married to Ed Cash, as you say in the next-to-last graf? Were these two marriages at different times in her life? Did she have two concurrent husbands? Most confusing!
