Songfacts®:

  • "Heaven Changes Everything" is a tribute to Big Daddy Weave bassist Jay Weaver, who passed away aged 42. The musician's health problems date back to 2016, when both of his feet were amputated in an effort to save his life from an infection. He was hospitalized with COVID-19 in December 2021, and he died from complications of the virus on January 2, 2022.
  • The song is a powerful and moving expression of Big Daddy Weave's grief and hope. The lyrics reflect the band's faith and their belief that Jay is now in a better place. They have hope in the light of eternity, and they know that they will be reunited with their bandmate one day.
  • Big Daddy Weave frontman Mike Weaver (Jay's older brother) wrote "Heaven Changes Everything" with Jeff Pardo and Matthew West. Pardo and West are two of contemporary Christian music singer Anne Wilson's favorite collaborators. Songs they've co-penned for her include "My Jesus" and "Hey Girl."
  • The song climbed to the top of Billboard's Christian AC Airplay chart, Big Daddy Weave's seventh #1 on the tally.

"This song hitting #1 means so much to us, especially in light of my brother Jay going home," Mike Weaver told Billboard. "The stories that we hear from people who have heard this song and have gone through something like this have ministered to us and have given purpose to the pain we've been going through."
