  • Big Data is an New York electronic music project fronted by producer Alan Wilkis. The song was initially released by Wilkis' label Wilcassettes LLC on October 1, 2013 and an EP titled 1.5, consisting of eight remixes of "Dangerous", was dropped two months later.

The song gained traction after both KROQ and KCRW Los Angeles championed the track, leading to Big Data signing with Warner Bros in July 2014. A month later it rose to the top of Billboard's Alternative Songs chart.
  • The song features Rochester, New York rock band Joywave, with the vocals being performed by the band's lead singer Daniel Armbruster.
  • Armbruster sings about a guy who is paranoid about government surveillance, a topic which fits in well with Big Data's body of work. Their website describes the act as, "a paranoid electronic music project from the Internet, formed out of a general distrust for technology and The Cloud (despite a growing dependence on them)."
  • The song featured on the soundtrack of the 2014 American science fiction adventure film Earth To Echo.

  • Kbear from South CarolinaI take the lyrics as he's talking to "drugs" he is on and has left.As if if he won't flush or get rid of them. He has a love/and addiction for what he has on/ in him!!!!
  • Cleark from Australia I personally associate this song with Ted Bundy? Idk, just listen and tell me I’m wrong, I very much stalker/killer vibes
  • Thumper from PaI've been a fan of this song for a long, but I interpreted the meaning in a more personal way. When I first heard it, I was stuck in an abusive relationship and I found the lyrics reflected it a little too much.
