Songfacts®:

  • This tale of romantic woe is the second single from American Country artist Billy Currington's fourth studio album, Enjoy Yourself. The song finds the narrator shrugging off his disappointment at breaking-up with his girl.
  • The song was co-penned by Shawn Camp, whose other co-writing credits include hits for Josh Turner ("Firecracker") and George Strait ("River Of Love"). The other co-writer was Marv Green who is best known for co-penning Lonestar's 1999 chart-topper "Amazed" and Carrie Underwood's hit song "Wasted."
  • The song's music video was shot in New Orleans. "Since we recorded it with the horns and everything, when I would hear it, I would just picture New Orleans," Currington explained to Taste of Country. "I always picture New Orleans for this song. The label was ready to make a video, and I sent [my suggestions] through, and they felt the same way."

The city's most infamous street offered the best place to get the money shots. "Being on Bourbon Street was the place to get the best shots," Currington said in a behind-the-scenes video. "Every bar you pass, there are characters everywhere standing out front in the streets doing their thing... All those guys were met on spot right there before we started rolling camera. They either came up to us or we went up to them and had conversation. We had the moment and filmed it."
  • Currington explained the song's meaning in a video interview: "This song is basically about talking to your partner - the one you spend a lot of time with and love, but you end up losing. You don't see it as a bad thing. It's just the way it is. It just happened. You had great times, but baby, it's time to hit the road. Simple as that."
