Songfacts®:

  • B.J. Snowden doesn't sound like a trained musician, but apparently she graduated with a degree in music; according to Songs in the Key of Z: The Curious Universe of Outsider Music, her musical tour of Canada was written after a holiday north of the border.

The song finds her paying tribute to the Great White North in very simple terms:

    In Canada
They'll treat you like a queen
    In Canada
    They never will be mean

  • Snowden is American, but made her mark writing and performing songs about Canada. Some of her other songs include "New Brunswick," "Newfoundland (Oh Nuffy)," and "Nova Scotia (Oh Novie)."

  • Cristina from AmsterdamAlexander Baron is a man who truly can't write and is incapable of a sense of humor. He hears something delightful and can only qualify it in terms that are approved by the market. Without original thought it is hard to credit him as a contributor to this site. And is he generous of heart? No. It would be better if he never put pen to paper.
