Songfacts®:

  • This rocker about danger on the horizon was released as the lead single from Like an Arrow. "Simply put, it's a rock 'n' roll song. It's the statement we want to make, musically," singer and guitarist Charlie Starr told Rolling Stone Country. "Lyrically, I think maybe it touches on how crazy the world seems right now."
  • The instrumentation is pure rock. "A lot of people have said that rock & roll radio disappeared and became pop and rap, and the only thing similar to it was country music," drummer Brit Turner told Rolling Stone Country. "It was Eighties rock production and it was an easy fit, so that may have had something to do with it."
  • The song came to Charlie Starr very quickly. "'Waiting For The Thunder' took about 15 minutes to write," he told HMV.com. "It kinda just fell out."
