Songfacts®:

  • This is one of three tracks on Brothers of the Southland to feature the late Van Stephenson, who lost a battle with cancer in 2001. Originally an early BlackHawk demo, it was one of the first songs founder members Henry Paul, Van Stephenson and Dave Robbins wrote together."

Robbins told Taste of Country: "The song marks the start of Blackhawk — we wrote it before the band had even formed. The song was beginning to shape the sound that Blackhawk would become, and it always takes me back to the three of us together in the beginning."
