Songfacts®:

  • The first single from Brothers of the Southland, BlackHawk's first album in 12 years, ties the band's future together with its past. Lead singer Henry Paul explained to Billboard magazine. "It was written by [founder members] Dave [Robbins], Van Stephenson and myself early in the creative stages of Blackhawk's development. It's about someone who is looking past their current relationship with their eyes on someone new."

"We recorded the acoustic demo to document the song and it offers a rare look into BlackHawk's musical beginnings," he continued.
  • The song serves in part as a tribute to Stephenson, who lost a battle with cancer in 2001. "Having Van's talents as a singer and songwriter on this new album is a very magical musical moment for both Dave and I." said Paul, "and I'm sure the fans as well."
