Songfacts®:

  • What character from fiction would you associate with windmills? A mouse with clogs on perhaps, but for the starry-eyed Candice Night it could only be Don Quixote. In an October 2006 interview with Susan Henderson, the Faerie Queen said: "I am always drawn to the story songs and I feel the lyrical content came out just the way I wanted it to on this one. It is loosely based on the story of Don Quixote, but, as with my other lyrics, when delving into legends, myths or fairy tales, I try to write the lyric in such a way that you won't only be thinking about the story that has already been told, but you'll be able to see the parallels in your own life and be able to relate to it or see someone you know in the story."
  • "Windmills" is track 13 on The Village Lantern. Running to 3 minutes 27 seconds, this downtempo acoustic number has music as usual by Ritchie Blackmore. >>>
