World of Stone

Album: The Village Lanterne (2006)

Songfacts®:

  • Not to be confused with the lacklustre 1975 release of the same name by George Harrison, this "World of Stone" is a vastly superior song. Like "Fires At Midnight," it is based on an original melody by Alfonso The Wise, but with a transforming Ritchie Blackmore arrangement and lyrics by Candice Night who is found in deep philosophical mood.
  • "World Of Stone" appears on The Village Lanterne, and on the DVD A Knight In York wherein Candice explained how they came to write it. This live version saw too the debut of the one year old "Strawberry Girl" Autumn Esmerald Blackmore who was walked onto the stage part-way through much to the delight of the audience. As well as supplying the vocals, "World Of Stone" sees Candice playing her favorite instrument, the shawm. >>>
