Songfacts®:

  • "Bet You Wanna" finds the flirty Blackpink quartet telling a guy they're ready to love. Cardi B also guests on a verse; it is one of three linkups by the girls with a major American pop star in 2020 following their collaborations with Lady Gaga for her Chromatica track "Sour Candy" and Selena Gomez for "Ice Cream."
  • Cardi B is known for her raunchy raps but here she keeps it rated PG.

I bet you if you make me sweat, I'll still be on fire

The New York rapper admitted coming up with clean rhymes for her come-hither verse was a challenge. "It really hard for me to do a verse with no curse words and PG," wrote Cardi B on Twitter. "I really wanted to say 'I bet if you get me WET I'll still be on fire.'"
  • Donald Trump's positive test for COVID-19 coincided with the release of The Album. Cardi responded to the news with a tweet. "'BET YOU WANNA' wear a mask now," she wrote, alluding to Trump's own post announcing his diagnosis.
  • OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder and BTS songwriter Melanie Joy Fontana co-wrote this playful pop anthem. During the New Music Daily Presents BLACKPINK livestream event, Tedder said, "Cardi only does what Cardi wants to do. There is no, at this stage, tempting her with any kind of paycheck. She either wants to do something [or she doesn't] and she wanted to [work with] Blackpink."
  • Frequent Ariana Grande collaborators Tommy Brown and Mr. Franks, along with YG Entertainment's in-house producer Teddy composed and arranged the music.
