Songfacts®:

  • This hip-hop-infused track finds the Blackpink quartet singing and rapping about overcoming obstacles. They aspire to move forward and soar as high as possible in whatever difficulties they encounter. Jisoo explained in a pre-release press conference that the bilingual lyrics deliver a "positive and hopeful" message. She added: "We sang to give the message of not being daunted by dark situations and to not lose the confidence and strength to stand up again."
  • Blackpink deliver their message girl power style. The repeated chant of "look at you, now look at me" is directed at the group's haters who have achieved so little compared to the huge success that Blackpink have enjoyed. The girls sang exactly the same lyric in their 2019 hit "Kill This Love."
  • 1.65 million fans tuned in for the debut of the "How You Like That" visual, setting a record for the biggest music video premiere on YouTube. Blackpink usurped their fellow K-pop stars BTS, whose second video for "On" achieved 1.54 million concurrent viewers within minutes of its release in February 2020.

BTS took the record back in August 2020 when their music video for "Dynamite" garnered over 3 million concurrent viewers after it premiered on the platform.

The "How You Like That" clip also broke the YouTube 24-hour viewing record with 86.3 million views. It superseded BTS' visual for "Boy With Luv," which clocked 74.6 million hits in the first 24 hours.

Again the record was taken by BTS' "Dynamite" after it racked up 101.1million views within the first 24 hours.
  • Blackpink performed the song on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, June 26, 2020, becoming the first K-pop girl band to appear on the show.
  • BlackPink achieved a notable milestone in March 2024 when "How You Like That" clocked its billionth stream on Spotify. This made them the first K-pop girl group to join Spotify's Billions Club. Group member Lisa had previously achieved the same feat with her solo track "Money" in September 2023.
