Songfacts®:

  • This Texoma Shore track finds Blake Shelton singing about the positives of hanging out at home with his girl rather than spending the evening out. Instead of starting a tab at a crowded bar they can do some "swaying, star-gazing" to the backround of the "speaker in the window playing Barry White."
  • This Jamie Moore and Craig Wiseman-penned song is part of the reason why Oklahoma native Blake Shelton named his tenth studio album after his local beauty spot, Lake Texoma.

"I was spending a lot of time this past summer out on Lake Texoma," Shelton explained. "There was one week in particular where it was just [girlfriend] Gwen [Stefani] and I out there just basically hanging out. We finally had some time off, so we went out on the water every day, went back up to the house every night and just had one of the greatest times of my life. We were listening to this song and relating to it and realizing, 'Man, this is one of those summers that we're always going to remember.'"
  • Lake Texoma is formed by Denison Dam on the Red River in Bryan County, Oklahoma, and Grayson County, Texas, (hence the portmanteau Texoma). The lake is located about an hour south of Tishomingo, Oklahoma where Shelton lives.

"Lake Texoma has always been a place of great memories, new and old," the singer said. "I literally recorded this album on its shore, so it's full circle for me to take the love of this place and my love of country music."
