Songfacts®:

  • This Park Chisolm and Mark Irwin penned song finds Blake Shelton coming to terms with the end of a relationship and predicting his ex may feel the same. The song is included on If I'm Honest, which was recorded several months after Blake Shelton split from his wife Miranda Lambert. Shelton told Country Countdown USA that when listeners hear his record, "they may not know what happened to me, but they're gonna know how I felt about it."
  • Though Shelton didn't write the song, its inspiration is pretty apparent. "It's basically what it sounds like: At some point, whether you go through a divorce or a breakup or whatever, once you get past the anger and the frustration of it all, you kind of go into the sad part of it where it's just like, 'Gosh, how come that didn't work out?'" Shelton admitted during his iHeartRadio album release show at The Honda Stage in Los Angeles. "And that's what this song is about: Even though stuff didn't work out, I bet you miss me a little bit. It's a sad song."
