Songfacts®:

  • "Dance With Me" is a punk anthem that screams with desire as Blink-182 guitarist Tom DeLonge eyes up a crush on the dance floor. He's chasing after someone smarter and sexier, and it becomes a game of cat and mouse. DeLonge craves romance and perhaps a bit more, but she's all about dancing the night away.
  • The three members of Blink-182 wrote the song alongside songwriter Nick Long and the track's engineer Aaron Rubin. Nick Long often teams up with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, especially on Machine Gun Kelly's music. Their collaborations include many of MGK's biggest hits, including "My Ex's Best Friend," "Forget Me Too," and "Bloody Valentine."

Travis Barker produced the track with Aaron Rubin.
  • The song's accompanying music video is a love letter to The Ramones. It finds Blink-182 wearing wigs, leather jackets and sunglasses in homage to the New York punk group. The clip nods to their "I Wanna Be Sedated" video while Blink-182 rock out on a stage reminiscent of the legendary New York venue CBGB, where The Ramones played a famous gig in 1974.
  • The Ramones have been hugely influential on countless bands, including Blink-182. DeLonge said he paid homage to their inspiration when he included the "na na na's" for Blink's 1999 song "All The Small Things."

After Joey Ramone passed away on April 15, 2001, Blink-182 singer/bassist Mark Hoppus said, "The Ramones came out at a time when music wasn't being done like that, and they came out with three-chord pop-punk just played exactly the way they wanted it to be. Without the Ramones, there wouldn't have been three generations of great punk-rock music, and there certainly wouldn't have been a Blink-182."
  • The Malloys directed the video. Blink-182 last collaborated with the Malloy brothers on the 2001 clips for "The Rock Show" and "First Date." The sibling duo of Emmett Malloy and Brendan Malloy often feature pop culture references in their videos, which include clips for The White Stripes ("Icky Thump") and The Black Eyes Peas ("Don't Phunk With My Heart").
  • Blink-182 released "Dance With Me" on October 5, 2023 and played it live for the first time during their October 6, 2023 show in Bologna, Italy. The crowd met it with loud singalongs even though it just came out the previous day.
