The band crafted their fifth album like an art project and didn't hold back on experimenting with sounds outside of the pop-punk genre. For example, this track juxtaposes spoken jazz verses with punk-rock choruses.

Bassist Mark Hoppus noted: "This song is a pairing of seemingly incompatible musical styles. I love the bridge. It takes the listener to such a different place very smooth and beautiful."
The album debuted at #3 in the US, where is sold over 2 million copies.
Although blink-182 didn't release another album of new material until Neighborhoods eight years later, due to tense band dynamics, Hoppus considers the untitled 2003 release as a significant milestone in their career.

"That album changed everything for Blink-182," he told MTV News in 2013. "The way we write songs, the manner in which we record them, the way we think of ourselves as a band, everything. It marked a huge turning point in our career. I think it changed the way people thought of us, too. We were no longer the silly skate punk kids from California. Well, we were - and we still are - but from then on there was something more."

Erik from Willow Hill, Pai think that the two sounds are so different that it's hard to tell if it's for the better or not. i will say though, the self intitled album is a classic album that you can listen from beginning to end and you can't find a song you don't like or want to skip over.
Tom from Derby, Englandthis song is in a completely different genre to adams song which was a whole 2 albums before this. if you listen to enema of the state, adams song seems to be the only serious song on the whole album, whereas on the self titled album, blink have changed. for the better? il let you decide..

also, i think when mark is singing quietly behind tom's voice is kinda creepy.
