Songfacts®:

  • This is the title track of Blue October's seventh studio album, Sway. It was recorded at Fire Station Studio in San Marcos, Texas with co-producer David Castell in February and March 2013. The band's previous record, 2011's Any Man In America, was dark and moody, having been heavily influenced by frontman Justin Furstenfeld's failed marriage and custody battle for his daughter. Sway, on the other hand, reflects the singer-guitarist's more upbeat state of mind. He explained to MusicRadar.com that the overall theme of the album is about "the light at the end of the tunnel."

Furstenfeld added: "You only have so much time on this earth, so you need to live it up and be proactive with your life. Whether it's depression or whatever it is you're going through, there has to be a solution to the problem. And if there isn't a solution, then what are we here for? The only reasons why we're here are to be happy, joyous and free."
