  • This is the lead single and title track of Bonnie McKee's Bombastic EP. "This is what my art looks like when you remove the filter of a corporate overlord record label," she said. "It's about freedom to be yourself without caring what other people think, it's about the thrill of the fight, being fearless and empowered, and not apologizing for it!"

"I wrote it when I was feeling kind of frustrated and down, and I needed to remind myself that I am a boss and I have the power to be who I want to be and do what I want to do," McKee continued. "And I hope that that is what everyone else takes away from it too! Be bombastic!"
  • Although it now means "high-sounding, showy speech but with little meaning," the word "bombastic" originally referred to cotton or cotton wool used as padding. The source of the word is either from medieval Latin, bombax, an alteration of bombyx "silk," or the middle name of Paracelsus (Theophrastus Bombastus), who often used an extremely arrogant speaking style.
  • McKee wrote this song with Charlie Puth. They also teamed to write Puth's song "Up All Night" from his debut album.
