  • The lyrics, "We are normal and we want our freedom" echo a line from a (then) new Peter Brook production of the play by Peter Weiss, The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade (normally shortened to Marat/Sade). In the play the line is shouted by the inmates at the lunatic asylum. The band saw the play at their art college and later used the line in this song. >>>
