Songfacts®:

  • This was the first official single to be released from New Jack City II.
  • The song was produced by Jermaine Dupri who also does the intro. Singer-songwriter Johntá Austin also features on this track.
  • The song samples TLC's 1992 single "Baby-Baby-Baby."
  • New Jack City II was the first album of Bow Wow to have a Parental Advisory label. He told MTV News this did not concern him: "When I first came out, my fans were my age. My fans now are probably 21, 22 years old." Bow Wow added that another reason for the Parental Advisory was having Lil Wayne, T.I. and Swizz Beatz guesting on the set. He said: "I really did that for them, 'cause I didn't want to hold them back from being the artists that they are and for what y'all like them for and respect them for. So I let them get on my album and do what it is that they do."
  • The album title refers to the 1991 movie New Jack City. However Bow Wow told MTV News that this was nothing to do with the film's subject matter of the influence of crack cocaine in inner-city communities. He explained that instead it alluded to his friendship with Jermaine Dupri. Said Bow Wow: "It has nothing to do with the action they were doing in the movie. It has nothing to do with drugs or me trying to be hard or get that certification. The reason why I named the album that is just based on the brotherhood and the friendship of ['New Jack City' characters] G-Money and Nino Brown - the friendship and how it's similar to me and JD's situation."
  • Jermaine Dupri also produced the music video, which was directed by Hype Williams and shot on a beach in Malibu, California. Johntá Austin cameos as Bow Wow's girlfriend in the clip.
