Songfacts®:

  • This song had been languishing as a demo for about five years before Boy Meets Girl released it on The Wonderground. George Merrill and Shannon Rubicam spoke with us about the song:

Shannon: "In some ways, it's a song about how you call things right, or you call them wrong. You call them sacred or you call them profane. And really there is no difference between the two. They each are a part of an experience of life, if you decide to label them, then you limit your experience of that. And you limit your experience of other people.

George: "In that regard, similar to "Bring Down The Moon" on the Reel Life album.

Shannon: "It seemed to fit in in that regard, because we were choosing to look at something uncomfortable, and a better light, a light that would serve us. At the time of making The Wonderground, we were going through extreme personal discomfort, and so that song seemed to tie in. The idea of choosing to view things in a nonjudgmental way, and just seeing what they actually are."
