  • This song is about a man whose girl gives him an ultimatum: fishing or her. The Associated Press asked Paisley whether he was concerned that some of his songs which are written from a strong male perspective would be universal enough: He replied: "I've found that with songs like that - a good example is 'I'm Gonna Miss Her' - those are the ones that seem to get the biggest rise out of women. I think it's because women see right through a song that attempts at saying, "You're perfect, you're this, you're that." It's got to be really heartfelt because female intuition is really difficult to pass by if it's not sincere. They have radar when it comes to things like that. But when you're writing from the perspective of a man, it's truly easier to get past that radar."
  • Paisley's future wife, actress Kimberly Williams, stars in the Peter Zavadil-directed music video. Williams first caught the singer's eye on the big screen when he took a date to see Father of the Bride in 1991. Four years later, he returned to the theater alone for the sequel and was impressed with Williams' performance as Steve Martin's daughter. He remembered thinking, "She seems like a great girl - smart and funny and all those things that are so hard to find." They began dating in 2001 and married in 2003. Williams also makes an appearance in Paisley's "Little Moments" (2003).
  • The music video also features sportscaster Dan Patrick, country legend Little Jimmy Dickens and television presenter Jerry Springer.

"I've always written with a little humor. Even my saddest songs have a little smile to them," Paisley recalled in his spotlight interview during the 2018 Country Radio Seminar in Nashville. "So for the ['I'm Gonna Miss Her'] music video, I pitched this whole idea: I said, 'I'm gonna do a video that's gonna take the song to whole other places.' I was going to get Dan Patrick, who was at ESPN at the time, and have him officiate a fishing tournament. And then Jimmy Dickens was gonna be my fishing buddy. Then, we were going to end up on The Jerry Springer Show. The wives were going to be upset with us, throwing chairs and stuff. [The guy from the label] said, 'Can you really make this happen?' And I said, 'Absolutely.'"

"I walked out of that meeting," Paisley added, "called my agent and said, 'I really, really need Dan Patrick's number.'"
  • Asked how he has managed to convince so many celebrities to appear in his music videos, Paisley credits his naiveté:

"The reason I suggested Dan Patrick in the first place was because I had seen an interview where someone asked him what he was listening to, and he replied, 'I've got everything from hip-hop to Brad Paisley,'" he recalled. "I figured, 'He'll wanna be in a video then, right?' I was naive enough to think people would be willing."

  • Megan from Stevenson, AlThis song is great! Love it:)
  • Camille from Toronto, OhI believe Brad made the comment that as a songwriter, he sent this along to top recording artists and immediately both Alan Jackson and Garth Brooks wanted to record it. Brad decided to record it himself and the rest is history. He brought it to life. It is a fabulous song & perfect video. Just the perfect amount of humor. You have to chuckle every time you hear it, the first time in the song he sings, "I'mmmmm gonna miss her.......:
