Songfacts®:

  • Brandon Heath penned this song with Ross Copperman (Dierks Bentley's "Tip It On Back") and Lee Thomas Miller (Trace Adkins' "You're Gonna Miss This"). It is about a coal miner who has toiled in the dirt all his working life with few riches here on Earth, but with the promise of treasure in the hereafter. Asked by American Songwriter magazine what sort of things inspire him to write, Heath replied: "Conversations. It's usually a line from a conversations that I get inspired by. I'll pull out my phone and jot it down in my notes. Most the time the person thinks I'm being rude and sending a text. It's just one more of the struggles of being a songwriter."
