Songfacts®:

  • As the lead guitarist of Korn, Brian "Head" Welch had a seemingly great lifestyle, but he came to realize that his riches weren't translating to happiness. After converting to Christianity, he walked away from the band in 2005, to live a life of faith. The axeman explains his new attitude to wealth on this Save Me From Myself cut. "That's a personal song about me and how I bowed down to money because it was my number one thing in life," Welch explained to New Release Tuesday in a 2008 interview. "I thought I could buy my wife's happiness, but eventually I lost my family."

"'Money' is kind of a degrading song," Welch added. "It's like get on your knees and bow down to your money because that's what you look to for comfort and support. This song could crossover to a lot of people since so many people do that. You see people freaking out right now over the economic crisis here in America, and that's proof right there. I feel for them because I' m pressed financially, too, but now I' m looking to God to provide for me."
