Songfacts®:

  • This EDM-driven song finds Spears duetting with will.i.am as she sings in a robotized voice of her idea of a perfect love. The pair had previously collaborated on "Big Fat Bass" from Britney's Femme Fatale album and will.i.am's single, "Scream & Shout." Will was Britney Jean's executive producer and he recalled to Ryan Seacrest how the pair sat and chatted for hours before laying down any tracks, before taking took the things Britney had said and turning them into lyrics. "We had lunch and we just had - I was on a cleanse that day, so I had tea and soup - and we just talked. We had like six talking sessions before we even recorded," he explained. "I've been a fan of Britney since the beginning, but the thing that made me a fan, was Toxic. I was jealous when I heard that song Toxic!"
  • French EDM hitmaker David Guetta, frequent Akon collaborator Giorgio Tuinfort, Dutch house producer Nicky Romero and newcomer Marcus van Wattum all had a hand in the song's production, along with will.i.am.
  • According to Britney, the message of the song is: "Sometimes, we make love really complicated, but I've always felt it should be easy."
