Songfacts®:

  • Here, Britney combines metaphors of high school slumber party activities with tales of her much more adult night together with her lover.

Cause we got them candles hanging
    Hanging from the ceiling low
We use our bodies to make our own videos
Put on our music that makes us go f--king crazy, go
    Go crazy, go
    Like a slumber party

Both activities involve candles, cameras and moving to the music, but while the more innocent slumber party is about dancing and home movies, Britney and her partner are engaging in fornication and sex tapes.
  • The sultry reggae-pop track was co-written by Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels (the duo that penned Justin Bieber's "Sorry.")
  • Britney said in a video track by track:

"'Slumber Party' is really cool because it's got a Jamaican feel, it's really laid back. I think a lot of girls are gonna have a lot of sleepovers to this song, it's definitely a song you wanna take you and your girlfriends go out and just have a great time – eat a lot of pizza and talk about boys and just be really naughty."
  • The song was released as the second single from Glory in a remix version. The updated rendition features vocals by Tinashe on the second verse plus harmonization of the two singers on the chorus.
  • The video finds Britney and Tinashe portraying sensual seductresses at a fantastical, hedonistic party held in a giant mansion. The clip was directed by Colin Tilley, who has also shot music videos for the likes of Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj.
  • During an interview for Extra's Mario Lopez, Spears commented that the music video is a younger version of Stanley Kubrick's 1999 film Eyes Wide Shut, adding: "It's a little risky. It's very sexy. It's very moody. It's fun!."
  • Britney's love interest in the video is played by personal trainer and part-time actor Sam Asghari. The pair started a real-life relationship about half a year after the filming of the clip. Speaking to 103.7 AMP Radio, Spears explained that they first connected while they were stuck together on the visual's set.

"We were basically forced to talk to each other," she recalled. "And we started talking about sushi, and things we liked, and we're like we should go to sushi one day."

Asghari gave Spears his contact details, which she stored away. "I kept his number," she continued, "and it was so weird, it was like five months later, I found his number in my bag. I was like, 'He is really cute. This guy was really cute.' So then I called him, and ever since then, he is just a really fun, funny person."

The couple got married on June 9, 2022 but split up 14 months later.
