• Brody Dalle has two children by her husband Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme: Camille (born January 17, 2006) and Orrin (born August 12, 2011). Many of the songs on her Diploid Love album, as well as its biologically inspired title, reflect the impact of motherhood on her life. Speaking with HMV.com, Dalle explained the background to the album name. "A diploid cell is the cell that's around at the very beginning of a human, it comes from your mother and your father, it basically means human," she said. "I liked the word 'Diploid' and I don't think it's ever been used before."
• This punky take on being a mother features both Garbage's Shirley Manson and Warpaint's Emily Kokal of Warpaint on backing vocals. Dalle explained to HMV.com how the collaboration came about. "Shirley is one of my oldest friends, I've known her for about 14 years, I opened for her on a tour with No Doubt in 2000 and we became friends," she said. " I wanted there to be girl gang vocals on the album, not just my voice, and Shirley was in town so she came and did it."
  
  "I see Emily at the grocery store and I asked her, I love Warpaint so I really wanted her voice on there," Brody added.
• The song was produced by Alain Johannes who has previously worked with Arctic Monkeys (whom Dalle's husband, Josh Homme, has also worked with) and Them Crooked Vultures (Josh Homme fronts the supergroup).
• The song's music clip features a baby escaping from her pregnant mother only to witness riots and nuclear disasters. "I guess when I wrote that song, 'Meet the Foetus,' I saw that video instantly," Dalle told MTV UK. "I already had seen all that stuff and some of that stuff hadn't actually happened, so like Syria hadn't happened yet and Fukushima hadn't happened yet, I think. But yeah, I pretty much saw that video when I wrote the song, and then I had to wait two years because my son was born."
