Songfacts®:

  • Josh Bruce is a Nottingham-based MC and rapper professionally known as Bru-C. After making his name in rap battles and releasing two albums, Bru-C signed a contract to join Def Jam Recordings in December 2021. "No Excuses" is his first single to reach the UK singles chart.
  • The song is an unapologetic bassline banger centered on the resounding motto, "We be going out tonight, no excuses." Bru-C released the summer-ready party anthem on April 28, 2022.
  • Bru-C co-penned "No Excuses" with his regular producer Craig Hayward, aka Shapes. As well as collaborating on much of the rapper's other material, the two also co-wrote Bad Boy Chiller Crew's "Hideout."
  • The London-based video director Kevin Hudson filmed the visuals. It shows Bru-C kicking back at a lit pool party.
