Songfacts®:

  • One of the most popular songs by the metal band Brutal Truth, "Ill Neglect" was written by their frontman Kevin Sharp and bass player Dan Lilker. The song is about neglecting the Earth, with bleak images throughout the lyric to explain the consequences.

In our interview with Lilker, he said: "Kevin didn't like writing stuff with a direct point. It was more like an interpretive thing that people could get different stuff out of. He didn't say, 'This is bad, this is good.' He just made cryptic statements that people could get what they wanted out of them."
