Songfacts®:

  • Bryan Adams was a disco star long before he was a working-class hero. In 1979 he had a club hit with a remix of his first solo pop single, which featured a chipmunk-like lead vocal. New York remixer John Luongo, who had been asked to remix the song to make it sound like a proper disco track chose to increase the tempo. However, as there was no time compression technology in those days, this increased the pitch of Adams's vocals. The singer was said to be disappointed with the sped-up sound and later distanced himself from it.
  • When Howard Stern played the song in 1997 on his radio show, he offered $500 to anyone who could name the recording artist. No one claimed the prize.
