  • "Don't Cry" details Bugzy Malone's near-fatal quad bike accident in Bury, Manchester. On March 26, 2020, the rapper crashed his Can-Am Spyder F3 into a car at 70 mph, leaving him seriously injured. Footage of him lying on the ground in the collision's aftermath later circulated on social media. He subsequently suffered a brain bleed, leaving his life hanging by a thread.

Didn't think I would survive my injuries
Didn't think the almighty would intervene

Bugzy admits it was literally a miracle he lived to tell the tale.
  • Bugzy Malone previously recounted the story of his accident and subsequent recovery in hospital on the track "M.E.N III."
  • The Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy joins Bugzy Malone on the track. The song marks Kennedy's first time working with a rapper for a single; four weeks earlier, he released "Paradise," a hookup with artist-producers Meduza.
  • The production is courtesy of:

London-based producer and songwriter Sillkey (Wiley's "Can You Hear Me (Ayayaya)," Mabel's "Loneliest Time of Year").

British-Zimbabwean record producer Rhymez (Stefflon Don's "Senseless," Wiley's "No Lie").
  • Myles Whittingham (Lily Allen's "Trigger Bang," French Montana's "Writing on the Wall") directed the video. The clip depicts a vicious boxing match, with Bugzy battling against a more powerful opponent, reflecting his story of survival.
  • Bugzy Malone wrote the song when he had to go back to hospital with the brain bleed. "The fact that I didn't know what they were going to tell me when I got there - it was touch and go," he told Apple Music. "I wanted to write this song from a vulnerable place and share what I was feeling then. Furthermore, I don't have to be the cool guy or the tough guy all the time. There's no point if it's not true to who I am and what I've been through."
