Songfacts®:

  • Vocalist Daniel Winter-Bates explained the song's meaning to Kerrang!: "'Man on Fire' is about depression and 'unseen' illnesses, whether it's clinically diagnosed or simply finding yourself feeling in a depressed space and that no-one else understands you," he said. "The fire is the illness, if you will."
  • Winter-Bates recalled the shooting of the music clip. "We filmed the video outside an old scout hut – rock 'n' roll! - and made the burning run with a rope that was sprayed with kerosene. We had to be a bit careful not to step on it – though I did singe my leg a little bit!"

"The flame jets behind us were just amazing – there was one that shot 25 to 40 feet, and they made an incredible noise when they went off! It was one of those badass rockstar moments, like, 'Yep, we've definitely got pyro now!'"
