  • This song was inspired by how vocalist Kevin Martin met his wife, and just how much she overwhelmed him. He recalled to About.com: "The first two weeks that I was with her I didn't have sex with her because I didn't want to f--k things up [laughs]. And one day she comes out of the shower totally naked and says, 'Are you gonna f--k me or what?' and I was like, 'Yes, absolutely.' [laughter]

Women have that power and it's such an incredible thing. And to this day, we're 14 years together now – married for 10 – and she still absolutely blows me away every time we're together physically. I think that's what 'Supernova' represents – this emotion of 'just destroy me because I'm so in love with you' – and that's what it's supposed to feel like.

Few people are lucky enough to find that in their lifetime – even if it's not a relationship, even if it's just sex. I should be a little more vague about it because it's very personal to me. But if you think about that moment and maybe that person leaves – a one night stand or whatever – you can absolutely just explode. And that's the beauty of sex and our relationships as human beings."
  • The song's music video is dedicated to capturing Candlebox both on and offstage. "We wanted a video that represents us, who we are, what we're like on and off the road," said Kevin Martin. "This video gives the viewer a special insight into Candlebox and the personalities of each member, but it also shows just how special our bond is with our music and how much we love playing live."
