• This was written by Pye Hastings, the leader and songwriter of the British progressive rock band Caravan.
  
  In 1994, while Caravan was on a hiatus, Hastings was invited to join a hybrid supergroup called Mirage, which consisted of Caravan and past members of fellow prog band Camel. Mirage fell apart shortly after doing a brief tour and releasing a live double CD, for which Hastings got no payment and would soon realize he'd been taken for a ride by the band's manager.
  
  Hastings took retribution in releasing the song "Liar" on Caravan's 1995 album, The Battle of Hastings. The song contains the lyrics, "You know your name is mud" and "Someone's got to pay for this feat of clay," subtly hinting at Mirage's manager, who's name is Roy Clay. >>
