  "I made this song a few months ago when I was very, very angry," she said. "I had to change some bars because I was angry, honey."
  
  She added it was the fan demand that persuaded her to release the track.
• Producers Charlie Heat, HeyMicki, and DJ SwanQo built the track around the iconic "Triggerman" beat - a one-bar drum loop that originated in the 1986 Showboys track "Drag Rap." The beat, named after a line in the song, went on to become the backbone of New Orleans Bounce music, earning status for its memorable chopped rhythm and deep cultural roots. It has influenced mainstream hits by artists such as T.I. and Lil Wayne ("Ball") Drake ("Nice For What"), Chris Brown and Young Thug ("Go Crazy") and Beyoncé ("Church Girl").
• Cardi debuted "Outside" at the Spotify Beach Party in Cannes on June 18, 2025.
• Cardi B titled the album Am I the Drama? as a nod to her larger-than-life person. She told CBS Morning's Gayle King her family used to tell her she was "something else," destined to stand out.
• Am I the Drama? debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. It was the first chart-topping album with a title that poses a question since Billie Eilish's When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? reached the summit in April 2019.
