Songfacts®:

  • This defiant track finds Cardi B taking aim at the media, rap rivals and rumormongers.

    Press, press, press, press, press
    Cardi don't need more press
Kill 'em all, put them hoes to rest
    Walk in, bulletproof vest

Cardi has been the subject of intense media scrutiny since her mainstream breakthrough in 2017. The Bronx hip-hop star will deal with those people that are obsessing over her private life.
  • Cardi first previewed the song in an Instagram video posted back in December 2018. It was finally released on May 31, 2019.
  • The track was produced by:

Detroit beatmaker Key Wane, who has worked extensively with Big Sean in the past, including the tracks "Guap" and "Beware". Other songs he's produced include Drake's "All Me" and Beyonce's "Yoncé/Partition."

Atlanta producer Slade da Monsta who has provided the instrumentation for songs by such artists as Lil Uzi Vert ("Super Saiyan") and PnB Rock ("Misunderstood").
  • The song's graphic music video was directed by Jora Frantzis, who also helmed Cardi's "Money" and "Be Careful" visuals. The clip opens with Cardi shooting dead a couple of lovers, then moves on to scenes in a police interrogation room, a very public trial for murder, and a grisly cell killing. Intermingled are shots of the rapper performing the song accompanied an army of naked dancers.

The video's release coincided with Cardi B's own real-life court proceedings; she pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from a fight in a strip club.
