Songfacts®:

  • Caroline Jones is backed by the Zac Brown Band on this one. She became an official member of the group in 2022 after serving as their opening act for years. The song was released as the first single from her third solo album.
  • The theme of this song is vulnerability: It's better to bleed a little than to cover your emotional wounds with metaphorical Band-Aids. Jones said the song "expresses a profound message about having the courage to open your heart and tell really hard and vulnerable truths, which is a journey I have been on the last few years."
  • Jones wrote the song in 2021 with Zac Brown in mind, but didn't get a chance to play it for him, with the pandemic and all. He finally heard it in early 2023 when Jones was a member of his band. She was working on it in the studio, trying to bring it together, when Brown stepped in, offering to help produce it and lend his vocals. He and Jones produced the track together and ZBB members Clay Cook, Jimmy De Martini and John Driskell Hopkins added harmony vocals.
