Album: Storyteller (2015)

Songfacts®:

  • Carrie Underwood wrote this good riddance anthem with Los Angeles producer and songwriter Mike Elizondo ("Cowboy Casanova") and regular collaborator Hillary Lindsey. It finds the songstress telling her man bitterly to go ahead and "chase" the other woman.
  • Storyteller finds Underwood hooking up with producer Jay Joyce (Little Big Town, Eric Church) for the first time. This was one of six tracks on the album that Jay Joyce helmed. "I'm a very scheduled person," Underwood said, "and I like knowing how things are going to happen and when they're going to happen, which is why I also needed someone that was unpredictable to me. Jay Joyce is just an uber-creative guy. One time he literally had me singing through this voice box thing, like a bullhorn. It was just a different way of doing things."
