Songfacts®:

  • Carrie Underwood closes her Denim & Rhinestones album with this track, where she reflects on some of the life lessons she's learned from her garden.

If your words were seeds that were goin' in the ground
And your love was rain farmers prayed about
If your life was sunlight we all needed
What kinda world would it be?

Underwood didn't get into gardening until the 2020 pandemic. Now she's in her garden every day when she's home. "There's so many life metaphors that you think about when you're in the garden," Underwood told Apple Music. "You think about, 'Well, which one of these is bearing fruit, and what do I need to do? I need to cut this off because it's not contributing to the plant.' Growing things, relying on God to make some miracles happen - it is a miracle to me. You have this tiny little seed that means nothing and you stick in the ground, put some water on it, and then magic happens. It's amazing."
  • Underwood wrote "Garden" with Josh Miller after they chatted about their hobbies. The pair actually penned this song and another Denim & Rhinestones track "Wanted Woman" the same day.
  • Regular Underwood collaborator David Garcia co-produced "Garden" with the singer. Garcia also played keyboards (along with David Cohen), acoustic guitar (along with Bryan Sutton) and electric guitar (along with Sol Philcox-Littlefield, Derek Wells, and Rob McNelley). The other musicians are:

    Percussion and drums: Fred Eltringham
    Dobro: Bryan Sutton
    Bass: Jimmie Lee Sloas
