  • When Carrie Underwood decided to record a full-length Christmas album, she didn't feel any pressure to write any original material. "If we can add something, that's the most important thing - add pieces to the puzzle," Underwood explained during a press event. "You do want the traditional Christmas songs, but it's nice to have new things, to have something new to offer."

She eventually recorded eleven tracks: eight traditional ones and three originals, two of those co-written by the singer. This is one of the two new songs that Underwood had a hand in writing herself.
  • Underwood teamed with frequent collaborator Brett James ("Jesus, Take The Wheel," "Something in the Water"), and her Cry Pretty co-producer, David Garcia, to pen both this song and "Sweet Baby Jesus" remotely.

"I only chose people to write with that I was super comfortable with because we were writing on Zoom, which is not ideal," she pointed out. "I know them really well and nobody was gonna, you know, laugh at each other or be annoyed when it got frozen on our faces."
  • Over an uplifting gospel-tinged pop arrangement, Underwood offers a timely wish for a better future.

    Let there be peace
    Peace to every nation
    Let there be hope
For all the world to see
    Let there be love
And joy to all the children
Let there be peace on Earth for you and me

Said Underwood during press event: "'Let There Be Peace' was just kind of a fan jam, so joyous. And made you just wanna dance a little bit and sway to it. So we just wanted to see if we could contribute to what we had already going, without any pressure."
  • Nashville's McCrary Sisters supply background vocals. The gospel quartet's other credits include singing on songs by The Black Keys ("Weight of Love") and Maren Morris ("My Church").
