Songfacts®:

  • In this bubbly, exuberant number, Carrie Underwood sings of how her romantic partner's love gives her more buzz than pink champagne. The country star said it's a song that makes her happy when she sings or listens to it. Underwood added, "It makes me want to dance, makes me want to sing into my hairbrush, it makes me want to turn it up and just have a blast with it."
  • When Underwood started on this tune with David Garcia, Ashley Gorley and Hillary Lindsey, they had a different title. After they penned the "love gets me more buzzed than pink champagne" line, Gorley suggested naming the song "Pink Champagne." They agreed it was a fun title and one they'd want to hear.
  • Underwood recorded "Pink Champagne" for Denim & Rhinestones. She performed the song on the June 14, 2022 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, four days after dropping the album.
  • French Champagne houses have produced Rosé Champagne since the late 18th century. Thought to be a sign of extravagance when originally introduced, it wasn't until industrialization made mass production of the beverage accessible to lower classes that widespread consumption occurred. By the early 20th century these fruity, blush-colored wines became known as "Pink Champagne."

Because it ranges from light to fuller-bodied, Pink Champagne can be an afternoon drink, an accompaniment to meat when dining, or even a light, after-dinner dessert beverage. Girlfriends also drink Pink Champagne at hen-parties in pink pajamas.

Other artists to sing of pink champagne include Caitlin Rose and Ariana Grande. The Eagles also cited it as a beverage of choice in "Hotel California" ("The pink champagne on ice").
