  • "On My Street" is the opening song from the original recording by the West End Cast of Andy Capp The Musical which opened at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester in June 1982 before transferring to the capital. The original cast recording was made in October of that year; the real Andy Capp has been around much longer though, starting as a character in a comic strip in the Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror; his first ever appearance was Monday, August 5, 1957. Andy Capp was created by the cartoonist Reg Smyth (1917–1998).

    The show has lyrics by Alan Price and the actor Trevor Peacock; Price wrote all the music and also appeared therein as the character Geordie. "On My Street" is performed by Price, and sets the scene for show. >>>
