  • The title song from the I And Albert musical is sung solo in the original 1972 West End production by Polly James as Queen Victoria. Like the rest of the numbers in the show it has music by Charles Strouse (and barring one) lyrics by Lee Adams.

    Victoria married her first and only husband on February 10, 1840. If Queen Victoria did wish to be blessed with children as in this song, her wish came true in spades; she bore Albert no less than nine of them. Alas, although this was a marriage made in Heaven, it was cut cruelly short when Albert died in December 1861 aged only 42, possibly from Crohn's Disease. >>>
