  • "Kiss Me, Kate" is the title song and the final song from the first act of the 1948 musical with music and lyrics by the American composer Cole Porter. The play, which is based on the William Shakespeare comedy The Taming Of The Shrew, was first performed on December 2, 1948 at the Shubert Theatre, Philadelphia, whence it moved to New York on December 30, 1948 and ran for 1077 performances; the complete vocal score was published in June 1951, and the film was released in 1953 in which the duet was performed by Howard Keel and Kathryn Grayson. >>>
