Songfacts®:

  • This is the title track of the award-winning stage musical Legally Blonde. Like the rest of the score, "Legally Blonde" was written by the husband and wife team of Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin.

After the performance of "There! Right There!" Elle is the woman of the hour. Professor Callahan dismisses his students except her, then makes a pass at her. She slaps his face, and the next second she is out on her ear.

The show's title song begins as a sad soliloquy becomes a duet with Emmett and finishes the show as a spectacular routine with the entire Company as Elle finds an unexpected ally in Vivienne, Warner's new girlfriend.

After an interlude, the trial resumes with Elle defending Brooke Wyndham under Emmett's supervision whereupon she exposes the real murderess. >>>
